Bio: Mary Ruth of Rocky Mount, NC has been a private piano teacher since 1998. Her own music (piano) education began at age eight and lasted for ten years with one year of organ instruction. She served as a church musician from 1969 to 1979. After a seven year break, she returned to church music work in 1986 and has been the Music Director for Englewood Presbyterian Church in Rocky Mount since 1994. She plays for Sunday services, choosing music for and leading both the praise team and the adult choir.
She is a member of the Rocky Mount Piano Teachers Association where she has served multiple terms as President, Vice President, and Secretary/Treasurer over the years.
She has volunteered in the H.O.P.E. (Helping Others Pursue Everything) Program at her church. This is a respite program for families with special needs children that is held once a month from September – May. The church also holds H.O.P.E Camp for a week during the summer. Mary Ruth coordinates and leads the music segments of these events.
Mary Ruth is widowed with two grown children and two grandchildren.
