Meet Our Virginia Teachers
Locations I am willing to serve: Throughout Albemarle County, VA
Bio: I have been working with children with special needs since 1997 in a variety of capacities including ABA therapist, Behavior Specialist for Durham Public Schools in North Carolina, and In-Home service provider for Autism Society of North Carolina to name a few. Currently I serve as a lead teacher and case manager for Albemarle County Schools in Charlottesville, VA working in a self-contained classroom with preschool children with various disabilities. This is my seventh year in this position. I truly enjoy working collaboratively with other specialists and families to create individualized plans in order to best serve the students I come to know and love.
In addition to my passion for helping children with special needs is my love for the piano. I have been practicing and playing piano for over 30 years. When I was younger I was classically trained to be a concert pianist. Since high school I began broadening my scope to include jazz and improvisation as well as digital composition.
When I am not teaching in the classroom or learning new techniques with the multitude of computer programs and applications available you will find me enjoying my two children and lovely wife. Other interests include rock climbing, tennis, alpine mountaineering, reading, and writing.
I look forward to working with as many families as possible using the Young Method to help your child learn and appreciate the piano each in their own unique way.
