Locations I am willing to serve: Myrtle Beach area
Bio: My name is Mary. I have a B.A. in Music from SUNY Cortland and
continued on to LIU Southampton College for Mus Ed cert,K-12. Currently I am employed as an ABA Therapist and service the autistic population. I am excited to combine my music/ABA experience to teach piano to special needs individuals.
Personally, I aspire to making "connections" while teaching special
needs individuals. These "connections" afford me a satisfaction like no
other. As a teacher you pick up on these "connections" with your
students. They give me a reason to want to teach and they also sustain me through the trials and tribulations that accompany the profession.
I intend to touch students' lives through music in ways that will
produce positive "connections" in their own lives. Sensitivity and
listening skills are my better strengths. I try to be aware of people's
feelings and accomplish this by listening to what they say or what they
can't say. I also note their body language. Very often it is the things
individuals do not say that may be the key component in those
"connections" between a teacher and her students that cultivate and
nurture the learning process.
