Kristen Cheung is a classically trained piano educator and Registered Behavior Technician (RBT). She accrued over 5 years of teaching experience, and completed the ABRSM Practical Grade 8 with distinction in 2013.
Cheung is also certified as an RBT. She has provided both in-person and telehealth ABA sessions with piano training for more than 2 years. Ultimately, Cheung aspires to become a Board Certified Child Psychiatrist; as a University Scholar, she received a Bachelor's degree in Neuroscience from the Macaulay Honors College in 2020.
Cheung works with children from ages 4 and above, and caters each class to the student's learning style, goals, and musical interests. Her additional background in classical violin, contemporary and rock guitar, and jazz saxophone enables her to incorporate a variety of genres and styles into her lessons.
Furthermore, Cheung emphasizes basic music theory and technique so that her students become well-rounded, knowledgeable musicians. She has successfully prepared students for recitals, performance program college auditions, and exams such as NYSSMA. Cheung aims to cultivate a positive and empowering learning environment in which her students will gain greater confidence, joy, and accomplishment.

The Young Method is an ABA (Applied Behavior Analysis) based, individualized approach to learning the piano. Depending on how your student scores, they can proceed to different levels of manuals. These levels are refered to as Paths in this series.
