A Different Approach to Piano.
A Shared Passion for Progress.
At Innovative Piano, we believe meaningful music education begins by understanding the individual learner.
Through personalized instruction and The Young Method, we strive to make piano learning structured, encouraging, and accessible to students with different abilities, experiences, and goals.
Innovative Piano: Discovering Ability Through Music
Every student has potential. Sometimes, it simply takes a different approach to discover it.
In 2006, Jeffrey Young began working with five students at a small private school for students with special needs in New Jersey. Rather than focusing on their limitations, he recognized their strengths, individual abilities, and growing interest in music. By combining principles of Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) with classical piano education, he developed the foundations of what would become The Young Method.
The remarkable progress of those first five students inspired Mr. Young to reach further, seeking opportunities to help other learners discover musical abilities that might otherwise go unrecognized.
As the program grew, so did its methodology. Through years of observation, individualized instruction, and performance-based assessment, Mr. Young developed a structured piano education system featuring multiple learning paths designed to respond to each student's needs and progress.
What began in a single New Jersey classroom evolved into Innovative Piano, Inc., bringing together piano educators, ABA professionals, and others who shared a belief in the potential of every learner.
Today, twenty years after those first lessons, Innovative Piano has introduced The Young Method to learners and educators around the world, helping students discover the piano, develop their musical skills, and reveal the extraordinary abilities that make each of them unique.
From five students to a worldwide vision, our mission remains the same: discover ability, nurture potential, and celebrate progress through music.

Mr. Jeffrey Young
Founder of Innovative Piano, Inc. | Creator of The Young Method
Jeffrey Young's journey began with a simple but powerful observation: when educators focus on what students can do, remarkable opportunities for learning can emerge.
While working with five students with special needs at a private school in New Jersey in 2006, Mr. Young recognized their interest in music and began developing an instructional approach that combined the structured principles of Applied Behavior Analysis with classical piano education.
Encouraged by his students' progress, he continued refining his methods, developing individualized instructional sequences, performance-based assessments, and multiple learning paths that would become The Young Method.
His work inspired other piano teachers and professionals to explore this approach, helping Innovative Piano grow beyond its original classroom.
Today, Mr. Young continues to champion a philosophy that has guided his work for two decades: every learner has strengths worth discovering, abilities worth developing, and achievements worth celebrating.
